Support the execution of cyclical Total Rewards operations including but not limited to: benefits open enrollment, compensation structure maintenance, annual compensation review (ACR), headcount planning, and the 403(b) employer match Research and respond to staff member inquiries with prompt, accurate and friendly customer service Serve as a thought partner and subject matter expert to team leaders on total rewards matters for their staff members Support the implementation and ongoing maintenance of our Total Rewards operations Design and execute business processes that impact staff member total rewards, often in partnership with Human Assets, IT and Finance teams Support the maintenance of benefits and compensation structures, systems, and data Most notably, the Total Rewards team is responsible for upholding Teach for Americas total rewards philosophy to ensure consistency and fairness across the organization. As the Director, Total Rewards on Human Assets, you will be a member of the Total Rewards team where you will support the execution, design and implementation of Teach For Americas total rewards philosophy, policies/norms, operations, and systems. You will have the opportunity to work closely with senior leaders across the organization and be in a unique position to have a huge impact on the vision and direction of total rewards at Teach For America. The goal is to provide strategic support and subject matter expertise to leaders and client teams across the organization, while also leading and supporting total rewards projects that have organization-wide reach.

You will report directly to the Managing Director, Benefits & Compensation and will work closely with the other members of the Total Rewards and People Resources and Rewards team. The internal title for this role is Director, Total Rewards.

Qualifications: THE PERSON
The Director, Total Rewards will be responsible for:
Total Rewards Program Administration & Operations [50%] Manage inbox communications with a focus on designated areas as assigned Expertly perform daily work tasks through efficient processes and thorough audits; participate or lead projects related to benefits, compensation, and rewards program implementation, change management, evolution, and process enhancements Collaborate with MD, Benefits & Compensation to evaluate and recommend changes and improvements in total rewards programs that strategically align with TFAs People Promises Manage annual open enrollment activities Manage the operations of the 403(b) retirement savings plan, including but not limited to bi-weekly payroll collaboration and execution of the employer match Oversee reconciliation of invoices and monthly statements to ensure billing accuracy Drive team customer service goals grounded in TFA Foundations, MCCs (equity not equality mindset), and People Promises
Functional & System Expertise [25%] Build and maintain subject matter expertise through formal and on the job professional development opportunities; Stay informed of regulatory changes to support compliance with ACA, FMLA, FLSA, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, etc. Prep and file mandated reports with federal and state regulatory agencies (IRS, DOL, state agencies) Coordinate with MD, Benefits & Compensation to recommend policy revisions to Policy Task Force Build knowledge of Workday functionality in order to create efficiencies for system administrators and users; review new Workday functionality and conduct user acceptance testing as requested Escalate production support issues in Workday and partner with HAI, IT to prioritize and resolve
Partner Management & Coordination [25%] Liaise with brokers, carriers and vendors Assist in vendor management through reviewing reports, participating in performance meetings, and ensuring compliance with plan provisions; design dashboards to analyze benefits performance Train and share knowledge with HA partners who deliver direct-to-staff and manager support and service Execute total rewards programs communication strategies during open enrollment Maintain TFA Hub and other internal communication resources to ensure current program offerings
THE MUST HAVES
Required Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience Minimum 1 year of direct work experience managing or supporting health, compensation, wellness, and absence plans Prior experience managing and executing complex projects - from identifying and consulting with stakeholders, analysis, design, rollout/implementation, communication, change management, and adoption Experience creating learning and development materials and/or facilitating learning experiences for adults
Preferred Experience: Knowledge of federal and state laws, codes and regulations affecting employee benefit programs Client consulting, total rewards management (benefits and compensation), and/or HR experience Experience engaging with senior leadership Experience managing vendor relationships
