Human Resources develops and implements our team members, candidates, and operational strategies to support Wells Fargos business objectives. This group manages compensation and benefits, human resource service centers, systems and payroll, team member relations and assistance, talent management, learning and development, and recruiting. The Compensation Functional Consulting (CFC) team provides compensation consulting across all lines of business, working with line of business-aligned compensation and HR teams as well as other HR functions and non-executive business leaders. Reporting to the Manager of the Compensation Functional Consulting team, the Compensation Consultant is responsible for providing support for the strategy, design, communication, and compliance of total direct compensation and performance management programs to support enterprise and line of business strategies. This includes consulting with managers and partner groups regarding current and future needs for non-executive processes, forming a strong link between objective setting, performance management, and compensation outcomes.

The Compensation Consultant will be responsible for providing compensation consulting and coaching to managers and HR partners, identifying issues and recommending solutions, which may include support for compensation administration, market pricing, job evaluation, job structure design, job offer recommendations, retention consultation, pay equity, FLSA, process improvement and efficiency initiatives focusing on governance & simplification. The Compensation Consultant will actively lead and/or participate in a variety of compensation-related projects and initiatives at the enterprise and LOB levels.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Provide enterprise-wide compensation consulting to managers and HR partners on key topics such as job evaluation and offer recommendations among others
  • Contribute to the simplification and standardization of various processes, focused on achieving efficiencies and strengthening governance at the enterprise level.
  • Active participation in various projects and initiatives across the enterprise, or at the LOB level.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts in HR, risk, compensation and at the LOB to assist with the review, establishment and creation of best practices.
Location(s): The preferred location(s) for this job opening are as listed in the job posting (Charlotte, NC; Minneapolis, MN; Phoenix, AZ; Des Moines, IA; St. Louis, MO). However, other locations will be considered for this opportunity.

Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of consulting experience in compensation, human resources, accounting, or finance
Desired Qualifications
  • A BS/BA degree or higher
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to assess issues, make quick decisions, implement solutions, and influence change
  • Ability to create and improve process through strategic thinking
  • Ability to negotiate, influence, and collaborate to build successful relationships
  • Ability to manage large scale program initiatives in a complex environment
  • Experience consulting on and negotiating complex compensation packages
  • Experience with job structure and pricing activities, market compensation surveys, and FLSA classification analysis
